BaTonga Nongo 🌾

These Nongos are currently en route to their destination @kanjuinteriors in the US.

The "Nongo" basket (which means "pot" in isiTonga) was designed by @newmanbinky during a product development workshop held in Binga, Zimbabwe.

These workshops were part of a series organized by The New Basket Workshop, an NGO co-founded by Frances Potter and Binky Newman around 2008.

The Nongos come in two distinct styles: Traditional (featuring intricate patterns) and Natural (with no design). They are skillfully woven from palm fiber, specifically using the leaf and stalk of Ilala palm (Hyphaene petersiana).
