About the Exhibition

This exhibition showcases vibrant oil paintings and prints created by San artists at the Kuru Art Project in D’Kar, Botswana.

Their work features animals, plants, and rhythmic patterns, reflecting a unique visual language rooted in memory, place, and observation.

About the Kuru Art Project

Founded in 1990, the Kuru Art Project supports San artists, particularly in the D’Kar community. It provides space, materials, and opportunities—without directing artistic expression. Instead, it encourages artists to explore contemporary media while staying true to their cultural heritage.

Today, Kuru supports 20 artists from the Naro and Dcui San communities. Once nomadic, these artists come from a culture where visual storytelling has always been central. Their work bridges ancestral wisdom and modern life, creating a powerful dialogue between past and present.
